The Anna Building Project reimagines an existing old structure into a minimalist 4-storey commercial building through renovation and extension. Located in Opon, Lapu-Lapu City, near the public market, the project aims to preserve the existing building while giving it a refreshed and modern identity. The renovation focuses on creating a clean, functional, and commercially viable space while maximizing the use of the existing structure.
Scope of work
The project covers the renovation and extension of the 4-storey commercial building, including labor and materials across all levels. Works include repainting, ceiling, flooring, tiling, electrical and plumbing works, waterproofing, toilet and bath improvements, glass partitions, roofing, kitchen cabinets, doors, and other architectural finishes. The scope also includes whole-building waterproofing and painting works to improve the building's overall appearance, durability, and functionality.
Client requirement
The client envisioned a simple, clean, and modern commercial environment while preserving the functionality of the existing building. Since the structure was already old, the client wanted its appearance refreshed and its spaces improved for better usability. The goal was also to maximize the building's potential by ensuring that the available spaces could be efficiently utilized and occupied.
Site or construction challenge
One of the primary challenges was coordinating material deliveries due to the project's location within a busy public market area, where commercial activities continue around the site. There are areas requiring retouching on the existing walls, floors, and ceilings. Through proper assessment and coordination with the assigned engineers, appropriate repair solutions were implemented while maintaining the project's progress.
