Mendero - (Reception)
The Reception Building was designed as a welcoming arrival point that establishes the architectural identity of the property. Its compact tropical design combines a traditionally inspired thatched roof, clean contemporary forms, warm wood finishes, decorative breeze blocks, and landscaped outdoor areas to create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for arriving guests.
Scope of work
Abante Builders Inc. developed the architectural design and planning of the reception building, including the reception and service spaces, guest circulation, accessibility provisions, façade treatment, material selection, landscaping integration, and covered outdoor areas. Particular attention was given to creating an efficient layout within a relatively compact footprint while maintaining a distinctive, resort-inspired character.
Client requirement
The client required a functional and welcoming reception facility that would complement the tropical setting and provide guests with a strong first impression upon arrival. The building needed to accommodate reception functions and supporting spaces while maintaining convenient circulation, accessibility, privacy, and visual consistency with the overall development.
Site or construction challenge
The primary challenge was integrating the necessary reception and service functions within a limited building footprint without making the facility feel confined. The design also needed to address tropical weather conditions, accessibility, guest circulation, and the coordination of traditionally inspired materials with contemporary construction elements.
Abante's solution
Abante developed a compact, climate-responsive reception building centered on simplicity, accessibility, and tropical character. Generous roof overhangs provide shade and weather protection, while the thatched roofing establishes a strong resort identity. Decorative breeze blocks introduce texture and filtered ventilation, complemented by natural wood finishes and a restrained, neutral palette. Accessible ramps and clearly defined pathways improve circulation around the building, while landscaped pockets and covered outdoor areas soften the transition between built and natural spaces. Together, these elements create a reception facility that is functional, approachable, and visually connected to the tropical experience of the property.
